14 Players At A Serie A Club Tests Positive For COVID-19, Totalling 19 In 2-DAYS

There is a fear that a new wave of COVID-19 cases in Serie A has reached a new scary point that has forced the League organisers to postpone a match. Napoli on Friday announced that their midfielder Piotr Zielinski had tested positive just a couple of days before their top of the League showdown with champions Juventus.

The Polish midfielder scored last Sunday for Napoli against Genoa who next day announced that 14 of it players has tested positive for the COVID-19.

That total climbed to 19 on Friday including 10 who played against Napoli.

“Piotr Zielinski and staff member Giandomenico Costi have tested positive for Covid-19 following Thursday’s round of testing,” they tweeted.

The Italian Football League on Thursday postponed Genoa’s match scheduled for Saturday against Torino.

This is the first match of the season postponed in Italy because of the pandemic. Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli travels to Turin on Sunday to face Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus.
