Our Forgotten Daughters! Five Reasons We Might Never See Leah Sharibu Again Like The Remaining Chibok Girls

Presidency

The prolonged abduction of the only remaining Dapachi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu – who was continuously held by the Boko Haram forces because of her decision to hold onto her faith – has reminded the Nigerian populace of some serial abductions in the Northern part of the country.
Some of the abductees have been either released by the insurgents, or were rescued by the Nigerian Armed Forces, while other abductees eventually became lifetime victims of the deadly terror group. The expository facts below are a clear indication that Leah is on a fast lane to join the later part of the victim group:
1. The Nigerian Government Is Now Silent On Her Case: Unfortunately, the sporadic killing spree in several parts of the country have taken the Buhari-led Federal government’s mind away from Leah’s case. Boko-Haram’s intensified efforts in Borno and Adamawa state have also taken the focus towards stopping the insurgents, instead of planning a rescue mission for Leah.
2. The Christian Association Of Nigeria Has Forgotten Her: The numerous prayer rally for Leah’s divine rescue was brought to an abrupt end by the massacre of over 10 priest in a Church in Benue State. The popular Christian organization is now praying for peace in the country while the teenage girl still a captive of the insurgent sect.
3. No Pressure Group Has Risen For Her Cause: Leah’s case has surprisingly failed to trigger the attention of the numerous female-right activist groups in the country. No bring back our girl team, No marching to Aso Rock team, and no top politician is pressurizing the Federal government to intensify its efforts towards her safe release.
4. Her Courage Was Not Enough To Trigger Oby Ezekwesili’s Attention: Leah’s case seem destined for a worse fate, due to the glaring fact that her audacious courage was not enough to gain the attention of fearless women like: Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yesufu.
5. The International Community Is Not Interested In Her: Unlike the Chibok girls case which eventually became a trend in the whole world, Leah’s case in not even a hot topic in Nigeria anymore. In a situation where the victim is no longer a matter of interest to the government, the case seem to destined for an unhappy end for Leah and everyone who is still hoping for her safe release.
