Today 19th February marks a year the promising American rapper Pop Smoke was shot and murdered in a home invasion, and the world is paying tributes and mourning the multi-talented star on his first remembrance.
Pop Smoke had, earlier in the day before his death, posted the address of his home, showing off gift bags he had received after his mix tape hit #7 on the Billboard 200 chart Tuesday.
At around 4:30 a.m., four hooded men, including one wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun, were said to have broken into the house and shot him twice. The Los Angeles Police Department said it had received news of the home invasion from a call from the East Coast and arrived at the home six minutes later only to find Pop Smoke with multiple gunshot wounds.

The 21 year old had only begun his musical career in 2018 when visiting a recording studio with fellow rapper Jay Gwuapo. Gwuapo got high on drugs and Pop Smoke grabbed the opportunity to go into a booth and tried rapping for the first time. Using a beat he got from 808Melo’s YouTube channel, recorded his debut single titled “Mpr (Panic Part 3 Remix)”. Just when he was hitting the skies, he was shot off.
